Celebrating American Pharmacists Month and Independent Pharmacy

Throughout American Pharmacists Month celebrations, pharmacy organizations and social media celebrated the contributions pharmacists and pharmacy technicians make to patient care. The International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) kicked off the celebration on Sept. 25 with World Pharmacists Day. The theme for World Pharmacists Day was “Think Health, Think Pharmacist.” This theme emphasizes the crucial role of pharmacists as accessible healthcare professionals who are central to sustainable health systems, from medication safety to disease prevention and community outreach.

Keaveny Drug owner, Deb Keaveny, stands with a visual of a month of claims where the PBM reimbursement failed to cover the pharmacy‘s cost. Keaveny is part of the movement demanding fair payment for independent pharmacies in Minnesota.
  • The theme highlights the importance of pharmacists as key providers within healthcare systems.
  • It aims to promote greater integration of their expertise into health policies.
  • The theme underscores the role of pharmacists in areas like medication safety, patient counseling, and public health initiatives.
