ASAP 2027 Annual Conference Preview
The American Society for Automation in Pharmacy (ASAP) held its 2026 Annual Conference in January at The Lodge & Club at Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, gathering together innovators and leaders who are building the technology underpinning modern pharmacy practice.

The upcoming 2027 speaker program will kick off with Scott Biggs from IQVIA, who will provide an in-depth analysis of current pharmaceutical marketplace performance and the specific drivers, such as policy, 340B, generics, and biosimilars, influencing its trajectory.
Kevin Borcher, from the PDMP Training and Technical Assistance Center, will review the newly approved revisions to the ASAP 5.0a reporting standards and discuss how they align with evolving state and federal regulations.
Melissa Sherer Krause of Pharmacy Healthcare Solutions will then address the current landscape of biosimilars, interchangeables, and unbranded biologics, highlighting how pharmacies and payers are managing these products and overcoming barriers to uptake.
Looking toward future ecosystem-wide implementations, Eric Marshall of Leavitt Partners will outline a comprehensive roadmap to help stakeholders successfully transition to the FDA’s new 12-digit NDC format by 2033. Finally,
Marsha Millonig will offer a fast-paced overview of the legislative and regulatory landscape, preparing attendees for changes in government, PBM reform, and Medicare updates that will impact pharmacist reimbursement and clinical services.

The Thursday speaker program began with Scott Biggs from IQVIA, who provided an analysis of current pharmaceutical marketplace performance and the specific drivers influencing its trajectory.
Pat Knue, from the PDMP Training and Technical Assistance Center, reviewed the latest trends from the National PDMP Annual Assessment and discussed the current application of ASAP PDMP reporting standards.
Amanda Beemer of SevaCare then addressed pharmacist-led remote patient monitoring, specifically highlighting how pharmacists can be integrated into healthcare teams to manage chronic diseases and improve medication adherence.
Brad Crosslin from Synerio described how AI is being implemented for operational efficiency and demonstrated how artificial intelligence can redefine patient engagement and foster trust.
The Pharmacy Health Information Technology Collaborative’s Jeff Rochon discussed how Qualified Health Information Networks (QHINs) are essential for clinical connectivity and interoperability.
Meg Murphy from Surescripts complemented this topic by providing an update from the Sequoia Project Pharmacy Workgroup, emphasizing the importance of pharmacy data exchange for scaling patient care services.
