The Future-Proof Pharmacy by Redefining Patient Care
Brittany Sanders has a philosophy to do better for her patients, and her approach to an innovated pharmacy resulted in her receiving the 2025 NCPA Willard B. Simmons Independent Pharmacist of the Year Award.
Brittany Sanders operates on a simple philosophy: Do better for her patients. “It’s a team effort,” Sanders says of the honor. “It’s a reflection of our pharmacy and the state of pharmacy in Arkansas.” Her approach to an innovated pharmacy resulted in her receiving the 2025 NCPA Willard B. Simmons Independent Pharmacist of the Year Award.
Before opening The Pharmacy at Wellington in Little Rock, Sanders worked in a chain pharmacy. She often felt frustrated by staffing constraints that prevented her from meeting the community’s needs. That frustration became the catalyst for her own business. Ten years later, her decision to strike out on her own has been vindicated. The annual award from the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) recognizes her leadership, community service, and dedication to independent pharmacy.

The Pharmacy at Wellington is no stranger to accolades; it has been honored by the Arkansas Governor’s Office as the state’s largest community pharmacy COVID-19 immunization site in 2021. Sanders also serves on the board of the Arkansas Pharmacists Association and is an Arkansas CPESN Luminary.
Technology Supported by People
A cornerstone of Sanders’ success is her belief that growth isn’t linear. To reach a goal, she believes in staffing for the personnel you will need, rather than waiting until the team is overwhelmed. “Your business will grow to meet that level,” she explains. “That’s the approach we’ve taken, and it’s worked so far.”
